About Me
I started training my own dogs about 16 years ago at a local dog club. I knew I wanted to compete when I bought my first dog home--a little 3 pound, 10 week old toy poodle. Wow, was he ever tiny!! I'd never had such a tiny dog before, having grown up with a mixed breed terrier (about 25 lbs) and German Shepherd Dogs. By the time I had trained Scruffy thru Utility training, I knew I was ready for another dog, and this time I wanted a big one. So what should I get but a standard poodle. One thing led to another and now I have been "in" standards for about 14 years, and have been breeding my own competition dogs since 2001. Over the years, I have handled both my dogs and dogs for friends to many titles, including conformation championships, obedience titles, rally titles and agility titles and have put over 200 titles on the dogs.
I have been teaching classes for 15 years from Puppy Kindergarten all the way thru Advanced Rally classes and have given private lessons in obedience, rally, and conformation handling.
I am an all level obedience judge with United Kennel Club (UKC), Companion Dog Sports Program (CDSP) and the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA), a Novice obedience and non regular obedience judge with the American Kennel Club (AKC), and an all level rally judge with all 4 registries. I am one of the creators of CDSP obedience with my good friend, and mentor, Linda Sperco of Blue Ribbon Dog Sports Coaching, LLC.
